The treatment works by using controlled pulses of light which penetrate the skin and are absorbed by the melanin in the hair. The heat is transferred to the hair follicle which is destroyed making it unable to produce a new hair. The treatment is only effective on growing hairs as these are still attached to the follicle. Thus a course of treatments is required to catch all of the hairs while in their growing (anagen) stage.

The Ellipse IPL treatment is unlike any other IPL treatment due to its patented ‘dual mode filtering’ system, which removes all unnecessary and potentially harmful wavelengths.

The Ellipse has pre-programmed treatment suggestions for different skin and hair types thus allowing the energy levels to be adjusted for the client’s individual needs. Unlike some other IPL systems, the Ellipse IPL can treat skin types I - VI, and is approved by the FDA for doing so.

Type I  Pale white;  — Always burns, never tans
Type II  White; fair; — Usually burns, tans minimally
Type III Cream white; fair  — Sometimes mild burn, tans uniformly
Type IV Moderate brown; typical Mediterranean skin tone — Rarely burns, always tans well
Type V Dark brown; Middle Eastern skin types — Very rarely burns, tans very easily
Type VI Deeply pigmented dark brown to black — Never burns, tans very easily

Ellipse I²PL hair removal treatment offers clinically-proven, safe and effective long-term removal of unwanted hair. Excellent hair clearance is obtained after only 4-6 treatments and clinical long term studies have proven that 77% hair is still away after 10 years.  All clinical data has been published in the ‘Journal of Cutaneous Laser Therapy’ demonstrating the full potential of the system.

Owing to Ellipse’s square pulse technology and dual mode filtering hair removal be Ellipse systems is practically pain free in contrast to many laser treatments.

Clients should avoid tanning 1 month ahead of and during the entire treatment scenario to avoid excessive light absorption in the epidermis. Immediately after the treatment the skin is particularly sensitive to UV light. A sunscreen of at least 30+ must be used for 30 days after the treatment.

Electrolysis involves permanently destroying each hair folicle individually. Unlike laser it doesn't rely on the pigmentation of the hair, and therefore can remove fair or even white hair, and so is FDA approved for Permanent Hair Removal, rather than Permanent Hair Reduction like laser treatments (which don't remove hair with low pigmentation such as white or fair hair). However in comparison to the Ellipse treatment we offer, the procedure is quite slow as the needle (we use gold needles) has to be inserted into each hair follicle one at a time. Electrolysis can also be painful. If possible we recommend using the Ellipse, at least for the bulk of the work, and if there are a few white hairs to be removed, then electrolysis can be used to tidy these up as a final stage to the hair removal procedure.
